Terms of Service

The rules of working together, written so you can read them in three minutes and know exactly where you stand.

Last updated 10 October 2026

The short version

  • $99 to start. Then $39 fortnightly once your website is live.
  • No lock-in. Cancel any time by email, with no cancellation fees.
  • Your domain and your content are yours. The website we build stays with Slashkode and is turned off if you cancel. You can ask to buy a copy.
  • Anything beyond the standard plan is quoted first. We never start paid extras without your OK.
  • Nothing here takes away your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

1. Who we are and accepting these terms

Slashkode is a business run by Jatinder Singh as a sole trader in Melbourne, Victoria (ABN 20 568 892 923). “We” means Slashkode; “you” means you or your business.

When you tick the box or pay the start fee at checkout, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you also sign an order form or accept a written quote for a bigger project, it and these terms both apply. If they disagree, the signed form or quote wins for that project.

2. What you get and what it costs

  • $99 to start covers the setup and build of your website.
  • $39 fortnightly starts once your website is live. It covers hosting, maintenance, monitoring and one small change each month (such as updating text, swapping an image or fixing a link). The monthly change doesn’t carry over.
  • Bigger work, such as extra pages, e-commerce, bookings with payments or custom features, is quoted before we start.

What’s included is listed on our pricing page at the time you sign up. All prices are in Australian dollars. We’re not currently registered for GST, so we don’t charge it. If that changes, we’ll tell you before it affects what you pay.

3. How it works

  • You pay the start fee and send us your content and any access we need.
  • We build your website and you tell us what to change.
  • We launch it once you’re happy. Fortnightly payments begin from launch.

How quickly this goes depends on how quickly we get your content and access, so please send them as soon as you can.

4. Payments

If a payment is missed, we’ll email you first. If it’s still unpaid 14 days after that email, we may pause your website until it’s paid. If it’s still unpaid 60 days after the pause, we may treat your plan as cancelled (see section 5).

5. Cancelling

  • You can cancel any time by emailing us. There’s no lock-in and no cancellation fee.
  • Billing stops from your next fortnightly payment. We don’t refund a fortnight that’s already been paid.
  • Your hosting ends at the end of the period you’ve paid for, and your website is turned off.
  • You keep your domain and your materials. Ask and we’ll send your materials back at no cost.
  • The $99 start fee covers setup work we begin straight away, so it isn’t refunded once work has started. If we haven’t delivered what we agreed, we’ll make it right, including a fair refund where that’s the right outcome.
  • We may end the service with 30 days’ notice, and we’ll refund any time you’ve paid for but not used. We may end it straight away if you seriously break these terms or put unlawful content on your website.

6. Your domain

Your domain name is yours. It’s registered in your name (or your business’s), and you pay the registrar directly for renewals. If you already have one, we connect it to your website. If you don’t, we’ll help you buy it in your name and handle the technical connection. Please keep it renewed. If it expires, your website and any email on that domain can stop working.

7. Who owns what

Your materials stay yours. That’s your logo, photos, text and anything else you give us. You promise you own them or have permission to use them, and you’ll cover us if someone claims your materials break their rights.

The website we build stays with Slashkode. The code, design and layout, including any text we write for you, belong to us. We host and look after the website for you as part of your plan. It isn’t handed over, and if you cancel or your payments stop, it’s turned off.

Want to take your website with you? Ask us. Within 10 business days we’ll send you a written price for a full copy, based only on the time it takes to package and transfer it. Once it’s paid, we’ll give you the website’s files, code, design and content, and you can use and host them anywhere. We keep the right to reuse our general code and techniques on other projects, but never your content or branding.

Some parts of a website, such as open-source code libraries and fonts, are made by others and stay under their own licences.

8. Your responsibilities

  • Give us content and access when we need them.
  • Keep your login details private.
  • Make sure your content is accurate and lawful before it goes live.
  • If your website collects information from your visitors, you’re responsible for how you use it. We only handle it to run your website.
  • If you work in a regulated field, such as an RTO or VET college, you’re responsible for meeting your own obligations (for example, to ASQA) and for what your website says. We build around those requirements, but we don’t give compliance advice.

9. Our work and its limits

We aim to keep your website available, but we can’t promise it will never go down, because outages at hosting and other providers are outside our control. If something breaks, we’ll fix it as quickly as we can. We build with solid SEO foundations, but nobody can promise a particular Google ranking, and we don’t.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost enquiries or changes in search rankings. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Showing our work

We may show your website in our portfolio and case studies. If you’d rather we didn’t, tell us in writing and we won’t.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and email current clients at least 30 days before the change applies to them. If you don’t agree with a change, you can cancel with no fee. We may give you notices by email.

12. Disagreements and contact

Talk to us first. Most problems are quick to sort out with a conversation. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and any dispute that can’t be resolved is handled by the courts of Victoria.
